Move: Love or not love?

I’m thankful for all my loves/not loves,

because without them,

this article would never be written.

Those of you that know me better are probably pretty confused now, why I’m writing about love. I’m not really a relationship person. Neither am I any spiritual guru. And maybe if I read this article in a year, I’ll be of a completely different opinion. Nevertheless, I felt a need to share some thoughts with you today. You don’t have to agree with everything, but I hope that you’ll all find at least one sentence or a word that will force you to think.

What love do I mean?

To define love is quite difficult. For someone, it is a comfort, for another one a misery. Most of the people associate love with a relationship. With that classical picture from a romantic movie, where two people are sitting on the bench in a hug and birds are singing above their heads. This is love as well. However, I’m of an opinion that there are many other kinds of love in this world. Each one is different and each can give or take. That is why I don’t want to stick to the one particular kind. Yes, I know, I know. It is said that there is only one true love, but…

Why love/not love?

We meet many people during life. Starting with our family and ending with us. Hence, everyone stays for a certain amount of time. But with each of them, we create a bond. In other words - there is love. Probably the only difference is in its intensity. One will cause you butterflies in your stomach and another one will create the biggest smile on your face. Maybe it’s brave to say, but I really do think that each and every one of us loves more than one person in their lives. And at the same time.

Perhaps, you proudly shake your head and disagree. But go deeper, think about it. We all have that one person that we will remember for the rest of our life. That one love, that is not love anymore, but even the smallest impulse will take you a few years back. And it doesn’t matter what happened between you, somewhere deep inside, you’ll always like that person.

On the other hand, there are people we spend time with. Those that we talk to for hours, those that we just met and also those with whom we only let each other know that we’re alive. Have you ever realised that those are also different forms of love? Even though we call them friendships, fellowships, acquaintanceships. It’s very similar to the regular relationship - one day you would eat each other, the next day you’ll find out something about that person that will make you feel like strangers and after a while, all you need to know is that the other one is alive. However, in this example, you have all in one.

Why do we need to respect it?

Because we are all on the same boat. And also because it’s all about your ego. Everyone wants to be the best. Probably each of you have had a thought that your beloved person has 10 other beloved ones similar to you. Do you want to know the truth? You were right. But you do as well. Though, don’t be disappointed. Every beloved person gets a different piece of speciality. You don’t have to be afraid that your piece will be given to someone else. It is yours and it always will. Speciality is like constantly duplicating cell in our body. And if any gets old, it pointlessly swims around or simply disappears.

And that is how from a friend becomes a mate, from the mate an acquaintance and from the acquaintance a person we once knew. So from love - not love. Still kind of coming to life, but of no danger to the speciality of another.
